BUNDORAN RNLI LAUNCH TO RESCUE OF ‘MISSING BOAT’

first_imgWhat started as a routine training exercise for the volunteer crew of Bundoran RNLI Lifeboat turned into a 90 minute search for a sailing boat thought to be missing off Mullaghmore Head last night.A member of the public who had been watching the passage of the boat lost sight of it when a sudden squall obscured it from view. He became concerned once he couldn’t see it when the shower had cleared and made the call to the Coast Guard. The crew of the lifeboat were just about to launch on exercise when the alert was raised and quickly made their way to the Mullaghmore area to commence a search. They also requested that the Killybegs Coast Guard boat join them so a wider area could be covered. Covering an area from Mullaghmore Head to Streedagh to Inishmurray, the crews were subsequently informed that the boat had docked safely in Sligo.Speaking on their return to the station, helm on the Bundoran Lifeboat James Cassidy said: “This was a call with good intent. We would rather be launched to something someone was unsure about than not at all. If anyone thinks they see somebody in trouble on the coast dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard.” BUNDORAN RNLI LAUNCH TO RESCUE OF ‘MISSING BOAT’ was last modified: August 8th, 2014 by John2Share this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)last_img read more

Keelan McGill the hero as Naomh Conaill win Minor Championship

first_imgA late, late goal from Keelan McGill ensured Naomh Conaill would take the Donegal MFC title after a titanic tussle with St Eunan’s. As the game ticked deep into injury-time, it looked like the title was heading back to O’Donnell Park, with St Eunan’s ahead by one. However, there was to be one final twist in the tale with McGill scoring a late goal which resulted in heartbreak for St Eunan’s and euphoria for Naomh Conaill. The talk going in to this match was going to be the battle between St Eunan’s Niall O’Donnell and Naomh Conaill’s Eoghan McGettigan. Both helped Donegal win the Ulster MFC title earlier this summer, and are without doubt two of the hottest prospects in the county.Neither disappointed with O’Donnell scoring eight of St Eunan’s eleven scores, while McGettigan notched five points, with four coming from play. There was nothing between the sides all throughout this brilliant contest, with the sides level on no fewer than seven occasions. With St Eunan’s leading by one point as the game ticked into injury-time, Naomh Conaill went in desperate search of an equaliser.A hopeful ball into the area towards Nathan Byrne from Keelan McMonagle made life extremely difficult for Matthew Gallagher and with the ball breaking off that pair, McGill reacted quickest to hammer into the empty net.St Eunan’s were stunned, and they valiantly tried to respond, but Naomh Conaill added another late point to seal the deal.Final score Naomh Conaill 1-11 St Eunan’s 0-11Keelan McGill the hero as Naomh Conaill win Minor Championship was last modified: October 24th, 2016 by Mark ForkerShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)last_img read more
