Kimia Farma to cut investment, costs, but expects higher revenue amid COVID-19

first_img“Back in 2017 to 2019, we were focused on investments for our new plant in Banjaran, West Java, as well as our other production facilities for raw materials in Jakarta and [for] syringes in Cikarang, West Java,” Verdi said during a hearing on Tuesday with House of Representatives Commission VI overseeing trade, industry and state-owned enterprises (SOEs).During the same three-year period, the publicly listed company also expanded its business by opening more retail pharmacies, clinics and diagnostic laboratories in the country, as well as by developing health and beauty products. It also acquired Saudi Arabia’s Dawaa Medical Limited Company to establish retail pharmacies abroad.Verdi said that Kimia Firma also planned to reduce its business loans this year, from Rp 8.27 trillion in 2019 to just Rp 7.43 trillion, but did not elaborate on how it would achieve this.“We are also slashing our operating expense budget to Rp 3.5 trillion this year, Rp 280 billion lower than Rp 3.76 trillion previously,” he said. State-owned pharmaceutical company PT Kimia Farma plans to cut capital allocation and costs to maintain its performance during the COVID-19 pandemic, but still expects to see increased revenue this year.President director Verdi Budidarmo said on Tuesday that the company was lowering its capital allocation for the year to Rp 1.44 trillion (US$92.38 million), almost 38 percent lower than last year’s allocation of Rp 1.98 trillion. The company’s capital allocation totaled Rp 4.67 trillion in 2017-2019, when it completed most of its investments. Despite the tougher challenges this year, Verdi expressed confidence during the hearing that the company would earn 25 percent more revenue this year through its continuing support for the Health Ministry, the Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) and other relevant state institutions in the nation’s fight against COVID-19.“With our support in providing medicines, medical equipment and services in managing the COVID-19 pandemic, we believe that we can achieve our revenue target of Rp 11.7 trillion this year,” he said.Last year, Kimia Farma made  Rp 9.4 trillion in revenue, up 11.13 percent compared to its revenue in 2018.The company’s shares have increased 2.4 percent since January, and increased 6.22 percent on Wednesday morning to Rp 1,280 per share.Topics :last_img read more

Back problem ends Thomson’s Australian adventure

first_img12 Jan 2016 Back problem ends Thomson’s Australian adventure A back problem has forced England’s Jonathan Thomson to abandon a tour of Australia – just days after finishing runner-up in the first event. “I’m very disappointed and gutted,” said the 19-year-old from Lindrick, who was second in the Australian Master of the Amateurs Championship at Royal Melbourne. “I think it’s the long flight that has triggered the problem, being 6ft 9in tall and having to fly 26 hours is never a great combination.” But he went on: “It’s a long season and I need to get myself right for the big year ahead. I’m home now and getting myself fixed which is 100% the main priority.” Thomson was playing in Australia as part of a four-man England Golf squad, alongside Adam Chapman (Windermere), Bradley Moore (Kedleston Park) and Ashton Turner (Kenwick). The other three are competing in this week’s Australian Amateur, where Turner posted a first round score of four-under 68 and shares sixth place. They will go on to play in the Lake Macquarie Amateur and the New South Wales Amateur before returning in early February.  Click here for Australian Amateur scoreslast_img read more

Ajax 0-2 Manchester United: Premier League transfer targets rated and slated

first_imgIt proved to be a night to forget for Ajax’s starlets in the Europa League final.Losing 2-0 to Manchester United, Peter Bosz’s youngsters struggled to perform in what was the youngest ever starting line-up to play in a major European final. But despite a memorable campaign in Europe ending in failure – a host of Premier League clubs will be hoping to cherry-pick the Dutch giants’ brightest talents.Ajax have proved to be a happy hunting ground for England’s top-flight in recent years, but how did their stars perform in Stockholm?Click the right arrow above to find out…. 7 7 Joel Veltman – clubs linked: Tottenham and West Ham – The 25-year-old recently called Tottenham a ‘wonderful’ club after being linked with a move to north London. Veltman occupied a right-back role on the night and was dragged out of position for Pogba’s crucial opener. Didn’t exactly look assured and failed to impress on the biggest stage Kasper Dolberg – clubs linked: Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United – Ajax’s most prized possession flattered to deceive on a night where he struggled to make an impact. Chris Smalling and Daley Blind proved to be too powerful for the 19-year-old to surpass, as the Dane failed to manoeuvre past the constant obstacles put in front of him. Needs more time to develop 7 7 Davy Klaassen – clubs linked: Everton and Tottenham – The 24-year-old has been likened to Frank Lampard for his trademark runs into the penalty area. But the Dutch international was never given the opportunity to get behind an extremely well organised United midfield and is only likely to be recruited if Ross Barkley leaves Merseyside 7 Davinson Sanchez – clubs linked: Chelsea – Chelsea are rumoured to be keeping tabs on the powerful defender as they look to find a long-term replacement for the departing John Terry. The 20-year-old has the athleticism to excel in the Premier League and was unfortunate to see Pogba’s strike deflect off him and into the net Matthijs de Ligt – clubs linked: Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City – The 17-year-old looks set for bigger things after a composed display alongside the more erratic Sanchez. Looked so at ease with the ball at his feet and possesses the type of physique that would thrive in the Premier League. Antonio Conte and Pep Guardiola will be circling 7 Bertrand Traore – clubs linked: Southampton – The striker on loan from Chelsea proved to be Ajax’s most dangerous threat. The 21-year-old dropped deep to get involved in the action and caused the Red Devils a number of issues with his direct and powerful running. Could be an effective signing for clubs willing to take a chance on the Burkina Faso international 7 Hakimi Ziyech – clubs linked: Everton, Liverpool and Southampton – One of the few bright spots in what was a subdued attacking display by Ajax. The Moroccan winger looked to be a capable dribbler and showed impressive speed and footwork to beat his marker on occasions. Could fit in well at Goodison Park if Ronald Koeman chooses to pursue the tricky winger last_img read more

Clean chit to BJD MP in scribe assault case

first_imgThe police have given a clean chit to Biju Janata Dal MP from Kendrapara Anubhav Mohanty and his younger brother Anuprasa Mohanty, who were booked last month for the alleged assault and harassment of a local woman journalist.City DCP Akhileswar Singh said the investigation so far reveals that there is no evidence for the assault of the woman scribe by the MP or the passing of lewd comments by his brother.“There was a heated exchange between the two parties on the day of the incident, but no such evidence [of harassment or assault] has been found from the CCTV footage and mobile phone recordings to substantiate the other allegations made by the complainant against the MP and his family,” the DCP said. The journalist had alleged that the MP’s younger brother repeatedly passed obscene comments on her and on June 13, when she had visited the MP’s house at Choudhury Bazar under Purighat police station to complain about it, the MP and his wife assaulted her.A day after, the police booked the MP and his family under Sections 294, 354-A, 323 and 34 of the IPC. A counter FIR was also filed against the journalist by the MP’s brother. The police have recorded statements of six witnesses in connection with both the cases so far.last_img read more

Cautions from DEMA as Whale Watching Season starts

first_imgFacebook Twitter Google+LinkedInPinterestWhatsAppProvidenciales, 12 Jan 2016 – It is one of the more beautiful sea spectacles in the world and it happens right here in the Turks and Caicos: it is whale watching. DEMA reminds that we are in the season to see the migration of Humpback Whales and while this is a wonderful encounter it could also prove dangerous, even deadly if audiences are not careful. A list of Do’s and Don’ts was distributed today by DEMA. Among the cautions are that all vessels should approach slowly, carefully and quietly while maintaining a distance which does not stress or threaten the whales… avoid what DEMA called fencing the whales. It is when you block them in too close to shore or trap them between boats. You can tell that a whale is stressed when it changes its direction from 3 to 5 times and if you don’t think that is important, DEMA warns that whales can become aggressive and given their size, we are pretty much no match for the mammals. At sea courtesy is also encouraged, DEMA said boaters should communicate to each other if they want to share the whale watching experience, first. Last March, a Canadian woman was killed when a Humpback Whale landed on her tourist boat in Mexico and in September, two kayakers in Calilfornia were nearly crushed to death when a Humpback Whale lunged up and landed on their flimsy boat. DEMA explained that “Humpback whales travel great distances during their seasonal migration, the farthest migration of any mammal. In winter, the whales migrate to calving grounds in subtropical or tropical waters, such as the Turks & Caicos Islands, giving us an opportunity to experience these majestic mammals first hand.” Clement Howell High get their hands dirty for World Wetlands Day 2016 Facebook Twitter Google+LinkedInPinterestWhatsApp Climate Change blamed for seawater woes in Grand Turk Recommended for you Emergency action in Grand Turk due to sea surges Related Items:cautions, dema, whale watchinglast_img read more
