Dawson Creek RCMP search for suspects responsible for spree of arsons

first_imgThe first three fires were all discovered on October 12 between what police determined was approximately 9:00 p.m. – 10:55 p.m.“The first of the three fires were located at a derelict house that was unoccupied, the second was to a dumpster and police located a third fire in a second dumpster as they patrolled for the suspects,” Sgt. Scott West of the Dawson Creek RCMP said in a written statement. “The investigation revealed that two persons were seen running away from one of the fires.”The next fire was set ablaze just a day later, yet another dumpster near 10th Street in the downtown area at approximately 4:00 a.m.- Advertisement -Next on the hit list was a vehicle in the 1200 block of 102nd Avenue just before 7:35 p.m. on October 13.“Again, another witness saw what appeared to be two persons in dark clothing leaving the area just prior to the arrival of the Fire Department,” Sgt. West said in the same written statement.” As a result of this fire, a second vehicle parked close by also sustained damage.”The final fire was reported on October 14, when it was reported in an industrial garbage can, and this time, the person who reported it claimed there were two voices heard just before the smoke was seen.Advertisement In all cases, investigators have determined that refuse was used to start the fires, and further more, it appears the fires on October 12 and 13 are connected.“The Dawson Creek RCMP treat these incidences very seriously due to the danger to the public and loss of property,” Sgt. West writes. “The police are asking the public to be extra vigilant and report any suspicious persons who are out of place”Sgt.
