Police will conduct DUI checks today WHITTIER – A driving under the influence checkpoint will be set up on the corner of Mar Vista Street and Colima Road today. Whittier Police Department is conducting the checkpoint from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. Officers will check for unlicensed motorists, driving with a suspended license and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, officials said. Whittier transit lessons offered WHITTIER – A free travel training workshop for senior citizens will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, at the Uptown Senior Center, 13225Walnut Street. The course is designed to teach senior citizens and those with disabilities how to use the Whittier Transit fixed-route bus service. Information on Whittier Dial-A-Ride will also be provided. Run/Walk to help cancer research PICO RIVERA – For the third year in a row, Pico Rivera families and friends will lace up their tennis shoes and walk, jog or run overnight to raise funds for cancer awareness during the Annual Relay for Life of Pico Rivera.
