To regain market share and take on intense competition from Chinese rivals like Xiaomi and Oppo, Samsung is planning to launch a new range of Galaxy A-series smartphones in India this year. The company plans to launch a new Galaxy A phone every month starting March through June and expects to generate sales of USD 4 billion with with these phones in 2019.A senior Samsung executive told Reuters on Thursday that the company will launch one new Galaxy A-series smartphone in India back-to-back starting March. Ranjivjit Singh, Samsung India’s chief marketing officer, said in a telephone interview that the Galaxy A phones will target millenials and will be priced between Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000.”This is going to be really big … We’re talking about (sales) in the range of $4 billion in this year, in terms of just the Galaxy A series,” Singh said. The company is studying the Indian market closely with the help of its R&D center in Bengaluru to provide innovating new phones. “I can assure you the Galaxy A series has very strong input coming in from this team,” Singh added.India will be among the first few markets where Samsung will launch the new Galaxy A-series phones. Samsung began the year by launching a brand new Galaxy M line, which is also targeting the millennials by offering affordable handsets that are feature-rich. The Galaxy M10 and M20 have already been launched and have seemingly met strong positive reactions during the initial sales.advertisementThe latest report comes just a day after tipster Ishan Agarwal leaked out full specs of what are expected to be the first set of Galaxy A phones to launch in India. Samsung will likely kick things off with the Galaxy A10, which is expected to be an entry-level budget phone that will sport an Infinity-V waterdrop display like the Galaxy M10. The Galaxy A10 is expected to come with an Exynos 7884B processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, according to the latest specs dump. The handset is also said to come with a 4,000mAh battery and microUSB port.While the Galaxy A10 is expected to be the first new phone in this series this year, Samsung is also reportedly working on the A20 and A30 with the A40 and A50 being tipped for launch at a later date.
